My name is Heather too.

When I was a kid I went through a phase of not liking the name but now I love it. It's a pretty name.

My parents named me Heather because we're of English/Scottish decent which is where the name comes from. Also it is a type of flowering plant.

All kids I know have a problem with their names... Personally, I like your name! ;)

You see, when you are about to become a mother, you try to choose a proper name for your child, and you want this name to express something. As a mother you never think about what your child might say over ten years! :))

A mother expresses her feelings on how she wants her child to be, by giving him a name. Some mothers give their babies the names of conquerors or kings, thinking that their child will always be a winner, or if it's a girl, they try to find a sweet name, such as...Kelly.

Before judging your mother, you might want to consider this: HEATHER refers to a strong feminine figure, which never loses her feminity. She is always sensual, but she knows when to be tough! ;)

Because she loved the name and she thought you would too. Unfortunately, it sometimes seems all mothers had the same idea at once which results in too many girls with the same name.
When I was born, the girls were all named Linda or Karen. When my children were born, all girls were named Jennifer or Stephanie.

Most mothers are just trying to be original and they find out others had the same idea and get disappointed theirs was not as original as they had hoped.

If you don't like your name you can use your middle name instead. I chose a nickname that was just a shortcut for my first name and my mother finally got used to it but it was hard to get everyone to change. If you don't have children yet, this is the best time to change your name. Once your family hears your children calling you by another name when they ask for you on the phone, everyone will decide to use the name you chose.

One time my son answered the phone and when my aunt asked for me by my given name, he told her she had the wrong number and hung up. That did the trick for me!! @8-)
