Visit www.bps.org.uk - this is the official site of The British Psychological Society who are the official body for psychology in the UK.

Click on the 'careers' tab and there is all the information you need about careers using a degree in psychology. It also tells you what psychology is actually all about.

Good luck!

Psychologist, Teacher, Nurse, Pathologist, Psychiatrist, Counsellor, Learning Mentor, Social Worker, Youth Worker, the Law, Business (they'll appreciate your ability to understand people), Human Resources/Personnel: basically it is a really good avenue to take as many employers will appreciate the knowledge of the way that the Human mind works. It is a true multi-faculty discipline. Even if you do not do any of the above it is a useful subject to study as nearly everybody appreciates it. Even if you don't take a career where it is used as a major it will help you understand your colleagues and work more peacefully and calmly in yourself. Just think applying Pavlov's theory to your workmates or Zimbardo's to your colleagues could help you cope with most stresses.

If your school has a career center - I'd start there. Often they have aptitude tests.

They have similar ones online - check out the big job boards (Monster, HotJobs, etc) they have "mini" versions of the tests for free.

Psychology is a fairly broad field - do you want to deal with people directly, do you like the idea of research? See if you can do an "Informational interview" with someone who IS a psychologist - it will give you a better idea of what they actually do. (And yes, many people are willing to talk to young people with an interest in the field!)

Best of luck!
