Money, Money, Money, Money.

The Bears used their franchise tag on him which means that he will earn the average of the top 5 highest paid players at his position. It is a one year deal and there is nothing guaranteed after that. Although this is good money for the year, the reason he is upset is that there is no such thing as a guaranteed contract in the NFL. If he were to get hurt this year his value in free agency would go WAY down and the Bears would be unlikely to use their franchise tag on him again.

However, if he were to be traded or work out an extension with the Bears he would be get a signing bonus. These signing bonuses are guaranteed money and often make up a big portion of the overall deal. Even if a player gets cut he is still entitled to the signing bonus portion of his deal.

Briggs is simply being smart in acting in his own best interest. He knows that his value is never going to be higher than it is right now. Quite frankly, the only place he has to go is down. If he can sign a deal now he is set but if he stays and plays under the franchise tag this year he risks losing out on a huge signing bonus if he has a bad year or (even worse) gets hurt.

Its about the money. He wants this big contract. He was drafted, made the probowl twice and went to the super bowl. If the bears wouldve won the super bowl he would stay.

Bears isnt gonna be as strong like last year if briggs leave unless mike brown and tommie harris is healthy. Jones is gone, i hope benson starts rushing 1000 yrds and rex shows that he has potential to be the bears elite QB but needs to be more consistant. If all things go wrong, bears would be part of the statistics about super bowl losing teams that doesnt even make the playoffs.

Matt portion of information is maximum in all probability nonetheless very disappointed with regard to the Bears blowing him off whilst he asked a large develop and settlement extension whilst he of course outplayed the cost of his final settlement. Briggs asks for a clean settlement or to go away Chicago on a almost annual foundation, so interestingly his calendar purely advised him it somewhat is that its time to initiate expressing his opt to go away back.

God you people need to stop saying it's always about money.. sheesh. It's not ALWAYS about money. This is one of those that doesn't involve money.

Lance is very upset with the Bears organization and how the team is being managed. Also for some reason he didn't want the Franchise Tag placed on him and they did it anyways.

God people, check your information.

last i heard, he doesnt like the bears organization. period. the only way he'll stay is if he gets paid a large sum of money, and getting a long term deal. whoever said he would stay if the bears would have won the super bowl, get real. it wouldnt have mattered. this is a common scenario for teams after going to the super bowl. its all about business and if the player is comfortable in the city/organization.
