Crime is mainly a product of nature than culture. Some results of the twin studies are given below:-
Pooled concordance for MZ twins was 0.69; for same sex DZ twins, it was 0.33, strongly indicative, within the limitations of the data and the twin method, of a substantial genetic component in criminal behaviour
An approximation to ideal twin study was reported by Christiansen based on a sample of 3586 twin pairs from the Danish Twin Register, a full listing of twins born in Denmark between 1870 and 1920. Prison, police and court records turned up entries. The probability of finding, a criminal twin when the other twin was a criminal was 0.5 for MZ twins and 0.21 for same sex DZ twins indicative of a genetic contribution to criminal behaviour.
Boys who had neither adoptive nor biological criminal parents 13.5 % had at least one conviction. The percentage rises slightly to 14.7, if adoptive (but not biological) parents are criminals; if biological (but not adoptive) parents are criminal; 20 percent of the boys have at least one conviction. The highest proportion, 24.5 percent, is for boys with both adoptive at biological criminal parents. The criminality of the biological parents is here more important than that of the adaptive parents, suggesting genetic transmission of some factor or factors with crime.
