How can I get the updates to install or stop holding my computer up for hours just to get updates not available? My computer no longer will allow me to go to Windows Update to download updates directly from site but it will automatically download Microsoft Updates on its own.

Sounds like the Microsoft Download manager /Engine needs to be updated

Disable Automatic updates. Start/ Control Panel/Security Center/Automatic Updates
Select " Notify me. But don"t download install "
Of course the messages will appear in the taskBar. Now you can go to Windows Update and update

Check in ur control panel under automatic updates and see if u have a time and day checked when ur computer will do this?

Well try formating you Pc if can't than ask someone that will help for sure.
but if you don't want to do that for reasons than I don't now how to help.
Maybe you or someone else has deleted files that had to be updated and now the updates cant find the directory of the files.
