The US has initiated many more wars than most nations it's age.

I can think of three right off the top of my head. The Revolutionary War, which I think was fought on pretty good premises. The Mexican War, thanks largely to Texas wanting to be freed from Mexican rule and Manifest Destiny (if you don't what it is, look it up) and of course THIS Iraq war.
Outside of those three, all the other major conflicts that I can think of were started by another country who couldn't do the job (France in Vietnam) or were defensive wars to help out our European and Asian brethren in the WW's. I guess the Spanish-American war could have been started by the U.S, but who really cares about that one. All we got out of it was control of the Philippines.
Also it is quite difficult to say what kind of damage a war has done to the world because absolutely no one could know what would have happened if the war hadn't taken place. So how about we quit trying to play the "Blame it on the U.S game" and quit trying to deal in hypothetical "what ifs" had we not gone to war in the past. Thanks and have a nice day.

Um...two. The US Revolutionary war and our Civil War. The rest came about due to the actions of leaders of other countries.

Depends on what you classify as initiating and war.
We have invaded Panama, Afghanistan, and Iraq without being specifically "attacked" by them.
However, all of them had committed several acts that led to the initiation of hostilities.
Damage to the world? Far less than had we not taken action.

well hope you don't mind a Brit answering this one, but from where I'm standing there would have been many many more without America, i think they've done quite well keeping the peace. despite what many say and think.
