Try burping her while she's sitting. After you feed her, drape a burp cloth over your palm between your index finger and thumb. Set the baby on your lap facing your arm -- basically butt on your thigh, like she's sitting. Lean the baby forward slightly and support her head and neck with the hand covered in the burp cloth. She may still be asleep, but you can gently burp her and she'll remain comfortable. Burp her by patting her back with your other palm near the mid- to lower section of her back and just wait. Burping can take a while for some babies and I found that my son did not burp well at all. (He was breastfed.) Good luck.

When i had my first child, I would do everything to make her burp, but if the baby doesn't drink much air, it should be ok. Trust your mother's instinct. Do you always have to burp when you eat or drink, well it's the same for a baby. If you notice she screams and cries in the middle of the night, well it's probably becasue she did not burp enough. Also if she wants to sleep well it means she is too full, try to give her breaks once in a while so that she doesn't eat so quick. And most of all don't wait til she is starving to give her the bottle. Good luck

You only need to burp if she's taken in air. Is she breastfeeding or bottle? Breastfed babies burp less than bottle but if you're bottle feeding and she falls asleep and stays asleep with no problems, then she doesn't need to burp. Some babies just don't burp a whole lot and some don't burp every single time. You could try sitting her on a knee and gently jiggle your leg....that usully worked for my son. Good luck!

If she is going to sleep and not waking up with gassy pain. Then leave her just like that. If you see that she does wake up with a sudden cry and she has gas, then try to burp her before she falls asleep. I think you are doing just fine. You'll be able to learn little by little everyday about your baby. Im am very time mommy too and I am 22. You'll fine! Congrats on your baby! Good luck. If you need any advice let me know, my son is 7 months old and I have been there and done that too. :)

If she is fast asleep then she doesn't need to burp.

I used to pat my baby on the back until she burped but after about 2 minutes if nothing came out I would lay her down to sleep.

Also try leaning your position more forward or back, while you are patting the back, to see if you can angle yourself into a position where the air may be released.

Another trick is to rub the back from the bottom up, not too hard - you don't want to force the milk up, just any air that may be stuck.

Good luck.

It depends on if you are breastfeeding or bottle feeding..... breast feeding there is not alot of air going into her belly, so the burping is not as important whereas the bottle feeding gets alot of air in their bellies and burping is really important. My kids used to fall asleep sometimes during their bottle feeding but I would still burp them. Sometimes it took up to 10 min, but they burped and went right back to sleep. ;)

I know it might disturb her but burp her anyways. If she falls asleep with a gas bubble, she'll likely wake up in screaming pain. If you lay with her, lay her on her tummy, and lightly pat her back while she's either on the floor or on your lap. Once she's burped, roll her back over to a position she is most comftorable in, adn let her finish her sleep. Babies can still burp when they are sleeping, and believe me, she's thanking you for it in her own way! Congratulations and Good Luck!

If she falls right to sleep and is not uncomfortable when you lay her down then there is no reason to have to burp her. It is when a baby is uncomfortable and cries when you put them down..then it is time to burp because they probably have a big air bubble in their stomach that is causing them this discomfort.

Well, if she is falling asleep, she is not feeling pain from being gassy. As with all of my kids, she will probably burp first thing after she wakes with a little patting from you. Don't sweat it honey.

If you are nursing and your baby is latched on correctly you may not have to burp her. Breast fed babies suck in less air then bottle fed. You don't need to wake her. If she needs to burp, when she deeply relaxes she will burp on her own..
