There are over 3,800 college campuses in the USA. Most of them teach English and allow students to major in English language studies. But that takes in a wide range - you might be studying linguistics, creative writing, eearly and medieval English, English Literature, American Literature, World Literature in English, technical writing, poetry, etc.

You can go to the website of the collegeboard.com or princetonreview.com and they have college search programs that allow you to narrow down the choices by picking regions, states, size of school, private or public, etc. After you have selected 30 or 40 schools you like you can look at their websites and see whether they match your idea about what kind of college you want.

I don't think any of the schools mentioned in the other answers is particularly well known for English. If you want to get a ranking, check the US News College rankings... anything in the top 100 would be excellent. And other top tier schools are also very good.

You might have better luck if you ask for information about the states that you are interested in. There are just too many nationwide to name. Do you want to learn English or teach English? I guess I don't understand what major you want to study
