The Egg came first, Dinosaurs, and countless other creatures, laid eggs before chickens came along.
However, if you don't believe in Evolution, God clicked his fingers and the Chicken was there, so the Chicken came first.

In nature, living things evolve through changes in their DNA. In an animal like a chicken, DNA from a male sperm cell and a female ovum meet and combine to form a zygote -- the first cell of a new baby chicken. This first cell divides innumerable times to form all of the cells of the complete animal. In any animal, every cell contains exactly the same DNA, and that DNA comes from the zygote.
Chickens evolved from non-chickens through small changes caused by the mixing of male and female DNA or by mutations to the DNA that produced the zygote. These changes and mutations only have an effect at the point where a new zygote is created. That is, two non-chickens mated and the DNA in their new zygote contained the mutation(s) that produced the first true chicken. That one zygote cell divided to produce the first true chicken.
Prior to that first true chicken zygote, there were only non-chickens. The zygote cell is the only place where DNA mutations could produce a new animal, and the zygote cell is housed in the chicken's egg. So, the egg must have come first

The first chicken came out of an egg.
The egg was made by two birds, neither of which was a chicken.

a devolved chicken... think about it... but then again where did that come from --> an egg but then again that must have come from somewhere --> some chicken type thing ---> etc etc
But then if you get right back to the start, i mean the big bang soughta stuff, where did that matter come from, then where did that stuff that made that matter come from etc etc. one of lifes puzzling questions, and im afraid it will always remain that way, because if you really think hard, there is no beggining (if we go down the god route rahter than the science, where did god come from, and then where did the thing that made god come from), does that also mean that there is no end??
Can't believe that all came from chickens, hey ho, im off for an egg on toast : D

You could take it either way. It may of been the Chicken, or it may have been the Egg.
