I do not think it makes any difference if your a Fan of Liverpool or not to admit just what a genius Bob Paisley was. I signed a petition yesterday. I hope you are successful, He should have been knighted well before he died, BUT, at least if there is any justice, it will happen now.

Ferguson have been given knighted for 2 motives: in Bob Paisley's time soccer grew to become into seen because of the fact the sport of the working classification, and working classification human beings did no longer get knighthoods; John significant and Tony Blair, of their attempt to maintain the Honours equipment appearing suitable, have given honours to "familiar" human beings, irrespective of their achievements. additionally there is an institutional bias in favour of Manchester United (why grew to become into Matt Busby knighted and not bill Shankly or Brian Clough)? As for silverware, Ferguson has gained extra (8 League titles, 5 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, a million eu Cup (Champions League), a million eu Cup Winners Cup and a million eu great Cup) with Manchester United, jointly as Paisley gained 6 League titles, 3 eu Cups, a million UEFA Cup, 3 League Cups and a million eu great Cup. whether, it would probably be remembered that Ferguson has taken two decades to win 19 trophies, jointly as Paisley gained 14 trophies in 8 years - a lots larger fulfillment fee.

For me Bob Paisley is the best manager ever and should have been knighted when he was alive, definitely.
I've signed the petition, but I think it will fall on deaf ears unfortunately, because Sir Bob has passed away.

Signed it a week or so ago.
Glad to hear some MPs have raised the issue in the Commons.
I guess a lot of younger football fans won't know how great he was. He was everything and more that Alex Ferguson is, but he never complained in the press, and was humble in victory, gracious in defeat. Today's managers could learn a lot from him.

Just a thought: Paisley won a lot, certainly...but isn't it true to say he simply inherited Shankly's team and just kept them ticking over. The real credit for everything Liverpool won under Paisley belongs to Shankly.

I don't really think any footballers or managers should get knighted. HOWEVER if you're giving one to Sir Alex Ferguson then you got to give one to Paisley too
