That's an oxymoron. I was going with you on the cheap thing until you said photoshop. If you're using photoshop that means that you will be doing graphic editing. That by nature means that you need a more high-end laptop. To have decent performance you're looking at spending upwards of $1300. Check out www.hp.com Under notebooks they have the dv9000T, configured for high end graphics... it's gonna cost you, but it's a great laptop.

It all depends on what you will use it for. For photoshop you need lots of ram and a decent processor. Dont believe all th hype people post about bad laptops. I use to use an emachines desktop for years and never had any problems with it and most people use to talk all kinds of bad things about them. Look into compaq can get one for a little over 600 or 650. Comes with 1gb ddr2 ram and 80gb hard drive, dvd burnder and wireless. Bestbuy Compaq presario V6000 series. And all kinds of people will talk bad about compaq.

Dell Inspiron E1405. I just bought one about 4 months ago. I paid about $900.00 but I also added a few accessories along with the laptop. Go to Dell and look for their deals right now. I love this laptop.

Check the http://www.gateway.com website as one option.
Also consider a new Apple MacIntosh because Windows Vista may be a "Bloat-Ware" operating system.
