In "Under the Table and Drumming" Carter talks about how he uses a right handed set-up although he is left handed to emulate Buddy Rich (a great jazz drummer)....so he is Left Handed.

i don't know anything about instruments, but maybe you can find out if he's right handed or left handed by the way he plays his instrument in pictures.......Hope this helps!
