It's not very far - just a few miles. You would probably pay 10 -15 bucks in a cab. You can also get from one to the other pretty easily on public transportation.

You can get a regional rail at 30th St that would take you to North Phila/Temple Station a few blocks from the Liacouras Center. That would cost no more that five or six dollars.

Or you can take the east bound Blue Line/El train over to City Hall and use the free interchange to switch to the North bound Orange/Subway train. The Blue Line at 30th St is next door to Amtrak's 30th Street. There are many signs in the station to guide you. On the Orange line, Temple Univeristy is about four stops up from City Hall on the line. The Liacouras Center across the street from the Temple Univ stop. That costs two dollars.

I'd recommend the taxi if there's more than one or two of you and the Blue Line/Orange Line if you don't want to spend on the taxi. It's actually more straight forward than the communter rail.

Penn Station in Philly is located on 16th and JFK
and Liacouras is on Broad St. According to Map Quest its about 2 miles
