it does actually. you forget the bad things and you try to remember her for good things. we as humans naturally dont like to remember bad things. so yes, you will grow fonder as there is absence. peace

Absence only makes the heart grow fonder in small increments. And only if there was love in the first place. I don't know what your relationship was that makes your skin crawl but that doesn't sound very healthy to me. I think the phrase "out of sight, out of mind" may be more apt.

Sometimes, but there is also the saying, *out of sight, out of mind*
Your pain over the loss will diminish and a feeling of peace will take over.Your mum will give you a sign that's she's ok, watch out for butterflies that can only be seen from the corner of your eyes. They are not there when you turn to look. That will be her.

If you loved your mother very very much then any memory of her will be so painful that as you associate memories of her with pain you will not think about her at all or avoid thinking about her. Thats love.

sometimes yes, but maybe in your case theres somthing more, like how you actually feel that you wont see her again, maybe you hate her for that or somthing else like that. Try speaking to someone try to see if theres a missing clue!
