My friend has a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other permanent damage from inhalant use also called huffing, sniffing or bagging. A lot of parents don't seem to know about it. Please do educate yourself if you haven't already (as well as 'choking game') www.inhalants.org

My friend also has bone marrow (fatty inner lining of the bones) damage along with other problems. And inhalant use is supposed to be The most damaging of any drugs put together (saw a segment of a dr on '20/20' years ago).

Thanks for responding and yes, the robo-tripping which is when the youngsters drink a quantity of robotussin is certainly another worry. The 'choking game' or 'space monkey' which is when the person eithers chokes themselves for a cheap, quick high (like huffing is for) or has a 'friend' do that and then they pass out is highly dangerous and deadly. Stroke ('brain attack') and heart attack are a risk.

That game is truely terrible. Im 13 years old and I had a best friend that played that game. I think it was due to peer pressure because everyone else was doing it. Her name was Anna and she died last year because she put a belt on her neck but the belt buckled. It was too tight for her to unbuckle it or take it off. She sufficated because of that dumb game. SO KIDS! DONT PLAY IT! ITS DANGEROUS AND STUPID AND YOU COULD DIE just like my friend Anna. :[

I can honestly say I know exactly what my 16 year old son is doing and when he is doing it! He goes to school Monday thru Friday until 3 then he has basketball, now over he goes to trak practice- then he comes home and plays video games until his fingers are numb! He actually quit seeing his best friend last year because he started hanging out with the kids who were doing drugs and my son wants to go to college to be a doctor and is like BIG on NO drugs. Hell in the car I cant even smoke a cigarette without a HUGE speech on second hand smoke! He is a very intelligent kid, and I trust him with my life! I realize Iam totally lucky to have a child who cares like he does. We talk about everything together and I know Im very blessed. The problem is too many parents are working 2 jobs just to make ends meet and have no time to notice or even to spend with their kids and that is sooooo sad. My heart goes out to all of them. I educated my son on all drugs including pills and inhailants when he was about 10 or 11. I have always answered any question he may have 100% honest and I pray he will pass this all on to his children one day!

Thank you. My children are grown but when they were in high school I always knew where they were and who they were with. Yes, sometimes they would try to pull a fast one and they would do something they were told not to do. I am sure that I didn't catch everything but I caught enough to make them afraid to do anything really, really bad.

My oldest daughter is raising her husband's 15 year old nephew and they are having a lot of problems with him right now. He is skipping school and not coming home until late at night. She told him she learned from the best (me) and she isn't going to let him get away with these things. She is sure he is doing drugs and has just reported him to the police. She told her husband that he is not to bail his nephew out of jail when they catch him. She is worried about him but also about his little brother that is 9 and her own 2 young children. I feel for your friend and I am so sorry that she has had to go through all this.

You are wise to alert the public in any form you can. God bless you.

Thanks for taking the time to educate people. I minored in Chemical Addictions Counseling in college, and I was always amazed at the ways people found to get high. Parents also need to know that kids use cough medicine (street names triple-C and Robo-tripping).

My little brother <9> was doing it untill I sat him down and told him the long-term effects of doing that, plus killing himself and he quite quickly STOPPED.
My dad didn't know he was doing this untill I told him ( I caught Samuel, the 9-yr-old doing it).
My mom, like most parents out there, sadly just don't care .

i know all about inhalants. did a project on it in freshman health. i don't have kids so i don't have to know or worry about what they are doing. they are also called whippets, snappers, and poppers.
