I'm going to go with San Antonio because the Mavs might be good now, but i'm not sure if anyone can beat the Spurs in a series in the Playoffs. last year was a fluke, and i don't think the Mavs have anyone to shut down Tim Duncan. He's a beast.

Dallas is definitely the favorite right now, with the injury of Dwayne, but if D Wade can return at least 75% healthy, I think Miami will be the team to beat. I don't think that Pheonix plays good enough defensively to win a 7 game series with a top tier team like Dallas or San Antonio and over the past two years, they're yet to prove that they can

Dallas
They have the 3 D's: Defensive, a Deep bench and Dirk.
Dwayne Wade is a pansy, even if he does come back, he is not going play as hard as he has in the past because he will be afraid of getting hurt like that again. Miami is lost without him.
Tim Duncan is only one man. The Spurs are simply not as deep as Dallas.
The Suns have always been a tough team to beat. As long as Dallas does the same thing they did last year and play their game and Not Phoenix's, they have it.
Except in the event of some monumental breakdown of this team, or the surprise turnaround of some underdog team, NO ONE, I repeat, NO ONE, will beat the Mavericks, and they will come back to Dallas with the Championship.

Mavericks will win it all this year, but it won't be easy. If they meet San Antone in the second round again, they should get by them. Dallas is better than they were last year and SA is essentially the same except Tim (better not touch me) Duncan is a year older. Pheonix will be very tough with Stoudamire back in the lineup, but Dallas' D will overcome Phoenix's O. They will sweep whoever makes it to the finals from the East.

No doubt this is the Mavs year. They have strung together numerous winning streaks this year after a poor 0-4 start. With a year under his belt, Avery is a better coach. Dirk is having an MVP like performance. The pieces are in place with Josh Howard stepping up his game, as has Terry and Stackhouse. They have the best conference record, division record, and an absurdly unbeatable home record. And of course they have the best record in the league. They will steamroll through the Spurs and Suns in the Western Conference playoffs and straight up take the East opponent to school regardless of who it is.

I might be a little bias because I live in Dallas and am a huge fan but...The Mavericks with out a doubt. It's our year to shine!! I know they have it in them. Their winning steak (16 in a row) right now is amazing, and we are the first to be named for the playoffs. Off to a good start, I'd say.

There are two answers to this. If Wade can play effectively, it is hard to pick against Shaq and Wade and Pat Riley. If they are healthy, they will have the advantage of all three being fresher than the competition. And, since they were good enough to win last year, and they have basically the same team, I would not bet against them.
If Wade is not healthy, San Antonio is tough to pick against. They will have a very talented, veteran team championship experience. Plus, they have a coach who has proven he can win it all. Dallas and Phoenix do not have the asset

Dallas Mavericks! They got the best record and a mad-good winning streak.

I hate to say it, but go ahead and give the Mavs the trophy now. Everybody else is playing for 2nd place. There's nobody in the league that can guard Dirk and the Mavs can beat you every way imaginable with as deep as they are.
That said, congrats to the Eastern Conference for actually having more than 3 or 4 teams with a winning record.

I'm actually going to say an Eastern Conference team and the one that sticks out would be the Detroit Pistons, a better all-around team than any other team in the East. Plus, they play outstanding defense.

I'd take them to win the Finals over the Western Conference entry only because those guys will be battling it out tooth and nail throughout their playoff run against much better competition. The Pistons will probably make it in easy and then take on a weary opponent in the championship round.
