Check with the school first. They will have requirements on what you need in the machine. The macbook is a toy and not meant for productivity. Plus if you have limited budget the macbook will blow your budget quickly.
Before you buy anything get a hold of the school, they will direct you to exactly what you need.

You know, I'm not very knowledgeable about laptops, but my son purchased a laptop at Best Buy. I don't know if there is a Best Buy where you live, but the sales people there do not get a commission (so they told me), so it doesn't benefit them personally to try to talk you into a particular computer. My son told them what it was he was looking for in a computer, how he would be using it, and the price range he was looking for. They showed him various types and explained each one thoroughly. They were extremely helpful. I can't recommend a particular type of laptop because I really am not a computer expert and really, a computer is really more of a personal choice according to how it will be used. I can say however, that I highly recommend Best Buy as the place to buy one. Even if you don't buy a computer there, you can tell them that you are looking for one and want to get information on the best one for you. They will still be very helpful because their hope is that you will of course buy one from their store. Good luck to you.

whilst it includes laptops shop on with Toshiba, Sony or Acer. Dell and HP the two use low priced (high quality and value) aspects and furnish terrible customer provider and warranties. you will in many situations could purchase MS place of work seperate. The 5-in-a million memory reader could be a splash frustrating to discover in a working laptop or pc. As for the action picture modifying you will pick a greater than standard processor. i could advise the Acer Aspire AS9402WSMi (sourced under) stable processor velocity, massive reveal screen, quite some RAM, and a DVD burner (DVD great Multi). you could could purchase an added upload-on on your memory card reader, nevertheless. As for a Mac having no viruses, it is untrue. there replaced into one launched a pair weeks in the past. the persons who write viruses are extra effective than able to writing one for a Mac. they do exactly no longer authentic now because of the fact desktops are extra ordinary and that they pick to electrify the main folk.

When i bought my laptop i went to www.cyberpowerinc.com
they have really high quality laptops/desktops (on par with alienware power wise imo) for somewhere between 800-1500 for a good one
the one i bought was a AMD 64 3.2gHz with a gig of ram a 60gig 7000rpm hard drive and a 128mb radeon vid card for $1400 including shipping
thats my suggestion for laptops...i'm not keen on alienware ones as they have LED lights in the case that are on the back of the monitor and tend to burn little spots in the screen. Dell, i've had to fix problems on Dells many a time, and my uncle has had issues with their tech support actually knowing what to talk about.
