I often wonder what kind of support Man-Made Global Warming advocates would provide if their lead man was a Conservative.

I bet that if George Bush had produced "An Inconvenient Truth", Democrats would be in their back yards right now burning tires.

Thoughts?

donie_b49 - You make a good point. There are many people who don't buy into it because they see it as "the Conservative position".

I haven't completely made up my mind about the cause of Global Warming yet.

My position is simply that based on historical precedence, any government solution will be ineffective and costly; and probably hurt those most who it was intended to help.

My thoughts are...
That you are exactly right in your assessment.
I always advise the proponents of Global Warming who are "regular" guys, simple citizens like myself, to follow the money trail. That's what I did, and I found that most of the people who are spouting off about Global Warming in the scientific community are also receiving huge grants from tree hugging organizations like Green Peace. So as long as they say that Global Warming is a fact and that it is caused by human emissions, they will keep getting the big bucks...

You've got it backwards.

The Left is all about government control over the means of production. They use environmental concerns as an excuse to achieve that control when "for the children" doesn't work. That doesn't mean all environmental concerns are mere pretexts but because the Left has coopted the environmental movement it does mean that most issues are overstated and some are just plain made up. The real danger is the boy who cried wolf phenomenon - this crowd has lied so much about their case for man-made global warming to date and about so many other issues (e.g., remember the Monsanto butterflies?) that if they ever do stumble upon hard evidence I don't know how many people will just dismiss it out of hand because of the low credibility of the source.

Well, if George Bush produced the film, of course I`d go completely against it since Mr. Bush is the epitome of idiocy. I personally don`t view the idea of 'man made global warming' as having a political preference. It`s an issue, and it`s been scientifically proven. If a conservative wants to corroborate this idea, good for them. Makes no difference.

no liberals would not be advocates because it is a known facts that most enviromentalists are liberals and well global warming is an envio movement.

But on the other end if george bush was the lead guy i think that many conservatives would change their views, just like they normally do

When liberal leaders proclaim, "The debate is over," that is a danger-sign. That is blindness.

The temperature of the earth has allegedly risen 0.7 degrees in the last 100 years. So we should freak out and cripple our economies and start living like medievel peasants? I don't think so.

There was an Ice Age about a zillion years ago, and I guess the planet is slowly heating up after the Ice Age.

Why people insist on "mankind is rotten and you should feel lousy about it" nonsense, is a great mystery. That is what is scary.

If any intelligent person thinks that we can 'hurt' the planet (whch is considered a living being) I feel sorry for you.

This planet has been around for how long???

Humans are really nothing more than a parasite (kinda like a flea on a dog).

This planet is going through a phase. Did you ever stop to think of it this way...

We cut down the rain forests....The planet wants those trees back......ZAP...increase the temperature....trees won't 'grow' in colder temperatures!!!

Think about just how miniscule human are compared to the planet, solar system, universe!

It is completely politicized. The "Kill Everyone" Environmentalists are behind it all. We can see this because they don't have any recommendations on how to "fix" their made up problems beyond curtailing human activity through legislation.

It's funny, isn't it? there is no pending legislation or policy action currently on the bill in the House or Senate related to this issue and people still can't stop talking about it.

Incredible.

Gore is just a failed politician looking to feed his family.

Michael Moore did the same thing.
