I woke up this a.m. with a sore spot under my arm (armpit). I'm just finishing up my period. I'm 32. What are the chances that this is just swollen glands? Can anybody cite articles on swollen glands and their characteristics, what causes them, etc?

It was detrimental in the movie "Terms of Endearment". But, seriously, it could be just an inflamed cyst, infected hair follicle from shaving, staph infection,...or a swollen lymph node. If it continues to bother you after another week or so, have it looked at by your family doctor. Just resist the urge to squeeze or poke it.

I had the appropriate comparable difficulty. I developed a puzzling lump in my underarm and a pair of days later got here down with mastitis (fever of 102, shaky, sweaty). i might go into the bathe and rub the lump in the direction of my nipple. do no longer end breastfeeding otherwise the difficulty won't fix. Breastfeed extra often in case you may get infant to latch on, or perhaps pump. you additionally can go see the wellbeing care provider or a lactation representative.

Wow, I am dealing with this myself right now.

I went to my doctor and she said it was just an infected gland. She gave me Avelox and it lessened the pain but after the Avelox I still have some discomfort. My mother (in the med field) says sometimes it takes infected glands awhile to clear up.

I would go to your doctor and explain your symptoms, and maybe if it is the infection, she can give you an antibiotic.

Good luck to us both :)

its nothing to get stressed out and worried about. i know a girl i used to cheer with and she used to get a lump under her arm all the time. she went to the doctor to get it checked out and everytime she went it was just swollen glands. i dont think you should really be alarmed.

I had that happen one summer when I was 20. I had a lump in my armpit for a couple weeks. I saw the Dr. and they didn't see any cause for concern and it went away on its on. Check it out if it stays for a couple days.

For your own peace of mind see your doctor! If I had unprotected sex with a prostitute when I was drunk, I would be crazy not to see a doctor and get an HIV test! I would worry myself sick. You are going to worry about this until you see a doctor. It is stupid for you not to see a doctor. It is irrational.

You probably have a sebaceous cyst. They are common in the armpit and when they absess it is very painful.

it could just be a cyst I get a lot of them. but I would ask your doctor to have a breast exam and mamogram just to be sure.. you can only live from breast cancer if it is caught early. so don't let it go
