Cigarettes are actually the *safest*, in terms of carcinogens, because they usually have a "filter....." (They are also carefully engineered by tobacco companies to be as addictive as possible.)
Burning any kind of organic materials produces a large number of potentially nasty chemicals. In most cases, however you are not directly inhaling the smoke and fumes. In most house or building fires, the majority of deaths are not from heat or flames, but from smoke inhalation, or carbon monoxide poisoning. Do yourself a favor, and quit putting hundreds of poisons into your body, not if you can help it.
~Donkey Hotei
P.s: Nicotene itself is a poison, one of the worst. One gram of pure nicotene is enough to kill more than 50 people.

it doesn't matter WHAT you smoke - the act of inhaling air with heavy particles into the fine brochioles of your lungs is damage enough - alot of diseases are the body's response to trying to get rid of this build up of particles. You would be better off cooking up the weed and eating it, snuffing or chewing tobacco and I'm not sure what shisha is (I know - dopey girl!) I realise that these are not appealing alternatives, and hell if you want to smoke - smoke - they're you're lungs! But sadly the healthy smoke is yet to be invented! :(

LOL Well...I guess anything as long as there is a huge filter on the end! Someone once told me that inmates (in jail) cut holes in carrots and put random things in it and smoked it. I don't know how true this is. *shrug* It sounds pretty funny though!

Herbs such as mullien, skullcap and sage.
You can also mix these herbs for psychoactive affects.
But any inhaltion of smoke particles will be somewhat "harmful". There are just less harmful things you can smoke.
But watch what mixes of herbs you smoke. I like to smoke a mix of organic tobacco, spearmint, sage, clove, peppermint, wintergreen, skullcap and mullein.
Again. These are just "less harmful".
