I want to be a model too. I am 13 years old, 5'4'' and 105 pounds. I am currently trying to lose 10 pounds so I can see it from her perspective. Its hard wanting to be a model because alot of the time your have to be stick thin in order to be successful which is beyond the point. Tell her how you feel and how dangerous it could be to her health. Dont force her to agree with you, but give her sometime to think. Just put in your input and let her know that your there for her. Also, just in case, make sure you tell your school councelor, teacher, her parents, or any adult that your trust because it could become serious. Make sure you also keep a watchful eye on her in case she's using diet pills, becoming bulimic or anorexic, or doing anything that could harm her health. You are a great friend to care about her like that. Good luck!

She is falling into that CRAP that society is trying to shove down young girls throats! Trust me I was right where she is once! I weighed 135 in my junior year in highschool and I went on this 500 calorie a day diet and I was taking water pills and laxatives. Hey I lost weight and spent 3 weeks in the hospital when I reached 84 pounds! Iam now a healthy 5 ft 2 and 103 lbs but back then I felt like I had to be skinny and tiny just to fit in and its the same for young girls today and its soooo damn sad! Keep a close watch on your friend and she might be needing your love and support very soon! I have a 16 year old son and he HATES really skinny girls- he likes em with SOME curves! 120 is a perfect weight! Be there for her and if things get bad- a true friend would totally let her parents know! Good luck to u sweetheart! She is very lucky to have u as a friend!

Dont worry, if it makes her feel good than its ok, I mean, youre probably not going to change her mind, I am into modeling and yes you do have to loose weight to be a model, because the clothes they make you wear are often one sized and should fit in everyone, all the girls must have the same size, if she is fatter than they are not going to make an exeption for her and she will get fired. And if she does its going to lead in a bigger depression than if she loses 20 pounds, because she is going to think she is ugly and that is not what you want for your friend right?
A good way to loose weight is drinking Green Tea and Lemon, and eating a lot of fibres, all-brans, rice, beans...
Tell her to eat that until she loses 20 pounds... Dont worry for her, live your life and let her live hers. :)
Good luck

My sister is a model, and they are huge on the skinny thing, though it is beginning to change. It is not healthy for them to be under what their normal body weight for their height. Tell her that her health is more important than modeling. She can be beautiful without having to be a model.

Just tell her that models have to constantly be skinny to stay in the business and tell her that if she tries this she'll end up turning anorexic from all the stress and it lowers your self esteem and she could die from it.

Have her watch the show Tyra. She's really trying to put a damper on disgustingly skinny girls. Tell her how you feel also.

All you can do is just try to be there and support her and let her know that you are worried that this will affect her health.

I don't think it's right either,,,that's why there are so many sick and sickly models....The average person is not that thin, so why should models be?
