How many of you ladies eat healthier now then you did before you were pregnant? Was it a planned pregnancy, if so did you start eating healthier while you were "trying"? Does the baby's father eat healthier with you, or are you alone in a sea of junk food trying to avoid it like I am? What changes did you make, and how easy was it for you? I would also like to hear about your guilty pleasures! thanks

Hey, thanks for all the answers. I'm 23 weeks pregnant and you ladies make me think I may not be a horrible person after all. I don't drink pop anymore, the bubbles just seem way too intense, coffee now makes me want to vomit, but other then that I still drink tea, I eat lots of sour cream and cheese, I ate doritos for breakfast today (not typical), I try to drink lots of water, I'm eating probably a little more candy then I should be, but it's my one big craving, I have hot chocolate a couple times a week, and drink more fruit juice then ever before. I do try to work in more fresh fruits and vegetables, but they are still quite expensive in the stores here so I end up with a lot of canned stuff. I can hardly wait for the summer fruit prices :)

I don't know if I eat much healthier then I did before I was pregnant because I always have been a relatively healthy eater. It can be very hard to avoid junk food when you are surrounded by it, but I think the best thing to do is to let yourself indulge once and a while. It's so much easier to eat healthy when you are not depriving yourself entirely of everything that is deemed "bad" for you. I normally take myself out for a no so healthy lunch every pay-day. This way I cure my grease cravings, but I am not eating fast food on a daily/weekly basis. Other then that I have been pretty good... I guess it helps that I don't care for sweets or anything of that nature.
It can be hard to eat healthy in a junk food filled world, but just make sure that along with the junk food, you buy lots of healthy, easy to prepare snacks. Things like frozen berries in vanilla yogurt, mini carrots, grapes, trail mix, apple/orange slices, etc. It's really not that hard to maintain a healthy diet, the hard part is making healthy eating a habit. Once you're used to it, it becomes second nature, and you will actually find that you prefer your healthy snacks to junk food (sounds crazy but it's true).
I honestly haven't been craving anything that is bad for me my whole pregnancy. The only thing I can't seem to get enough of is oranges, or ANYTHING citrusy! The very first thing I think about when I get out of bed is how I need a glass of orange juice STAT or I may just die of deprivation. Another thing that I crave is anything spicy! I am lucky enough to have been spared by heartburn, and have been indulging in spicy foods my whole pregnancy :-)

Yeah, I do eat better in most ways. I definately cant get away with skipping meals...my tummy gives me very stern reminders! You will like some stuff more...other stuff less...no matter how you felt about it before you were pregnant. Personally, I think my baby likes sweets way too much though...lol. Anyway, take your prenatals and be sensible...you will be just fine. I worked with a gal who had a snickers bar for breakfast in the morning...and she gave birth to a perfectly healthy son. I dont recommend it, but take the vites and dont obsess over it. Baby gets what he needs.

I try to eat healthier but I can't help but give into my cravings of sweets and fried cheesesticks. It's not easy and plus...buying and making healthy meals is pretty hard unless you know the recipes and actually have time to do it (which most of us don't these days)
My husband eats healthier than I do I suppose ...but he is training for summer so his diet is bland (I want flavor!!!!)
I indulge here and there and don't feel guilty but try to eat at least one healthy meal a day AND I drink plenty of milk (I love that stuff!!)
PS....don't go to the link from AMANDA above me.....it just infected my computer!!!!!!!!!

Before i became pregnant, I was trying to eat healthy, because i am in the plus sizes
so i ate meat vegetables, and alot water, trying to cut out cookies and cakes, which was
what i like, then i found out i was pregnant like a month later,I was trying to lose weight
before getting pregnant but when i was 2 months I had morning sickness and was
vomiting alot so I try fruits and it stayed down and cereal like cheerios, for 6 months
fruits,cereal,breads,vegetables like salads,was what i could eat no meats,chicken
tuna also what i ate alot of and banana, soda made me sick,it was to much acid
I like cheesecake, but no chocolate at all. my daughter don,t like either. but just gradually
change it a fruit a day whatever you can eat and whatever vegetable you can
eat and increase byweekly like that don,t stop eating junk food just increase your intake
in the good as well as the bad I do that now and it balance out now, along as you
don,t develop high blood pressure, which happen to me because i was overweight
before my pregnancy.but if you are on target then eat you craving but add healthy
food to mix in gradually like put fruit in your cereal whether hot or cold. eat brococli
with your rice, french fries, add tomatoes to your cheeseburger, put them in yourself.
I hope i was helpful God bless you and the baby, may you have successful pregnancy
in jesus name Amen

I'm not prego, yet, but I eat healthy. I do know that your diet before you get pregnant- even if it's years before you get pregnant can affect your pregnancy, on how healthy your baby will be.
