Pack all his things and leave them in a certain place, the garage or front room. etc. Ask a family member or friend to be there when he picks his things up. If you feel it necessary to have a policeman there do not hestiate to call one.

ONLY if it is an already volitile situation to begin with would I personally get the police involved.

Pack up his stuff, sit it in the living room, have a friend or someone that is a NEUTRAL party for BOTH of you be there.

The best way i can tell you is to have someone else there to make sure that nothing is said or done that you are not comfortable with. I always make sure that someone else is there when I go to pick up stuff from my ex husband's place.

Don't be there, have another family member or friend at your house. Ask your local police to stand by and be present while your X is getting his belongings.

If you know anyone who is a friend/neighbor and a cop, have them over.
You can also say that you want him to have a cop escort.
If you dont want to involve cops, have a mutual friend, or just a friend of yours there to ease the tension.
Try to have all his stuff together so its easy for him to get it.

depends how much stuff he has... with my ex, i fit everything into a shoe box and mailed it COD... he later told me he was afraid to open it... you know, shoe box...in the mail... LOL.... if it's too much to fit into a box, a police escort, or pile the stuff outside and tell him to be there at a certain time, or everything will go to good will...
