If you mean Vice President of the United States, the President will nominate a replacement and both houses of Congress will vote to approve.

This is what happened after Spiro Agnew resigned as part of tax evasion in 1973. Nixon appointed Ford, who succeeded him as President.

In the event that the President accepts the VP's resignation; the President then would select a replacement. The Congress would give their approval or disapproval. Should the person be granted approval; a Supreme Court Judge would swear the replacement into office.

The last time that happened was in the 70's Richard Nixon's vice president resigned because of corruption charges in his home state of Maryland, Nixon chose Gerald Ford to replace him. So my answer is the president chooses a replacement and I think congress has to okay his appointment.

the longest sitting senator becomes the vice president. but that isn't the person next in line. the speaker of the house is. but Nancy Pelosi would never in a million years resign her seat and take a demotion to become VP the governator would replace her, withe either a republican and possibly himself and shift the house back to a republican majority. but the order of succession is speaker of the house, senate pro tem Bob Byrd, the Secretaries state, treasury , and defense, the attorney general and then the rest of the Secretaries etc

they aint gonna resign they still think they've done nothing wrong. ie shooting a guy in the face. wouldve gotten any other person put in prison or sued bigtime. theres not enought ime to impeach or resign. it would cost us taxpayers millions in court costs. just hope they all get together as americans instead of republican/ democrat. and fix our schools, jobs, roads, deficit, lobbiests, wars, just come home and mind our own business for awhile because as you've probably noticed we have lots of our own problems.

He is not going to resign,,,they would have to carry him out hog tied. Sure,,,Libby took the rap but that doesn't mean that Dick will quit. The Prez would make his pick and it would have to be approved by congress.
