This question has nothing to do with anti-semitism. Being Jewish, many of us question the political motivation of Zionism.

The comparison can be based only on ignorance or blind hatred, or a combination of the two.
David Matas and Jean-Christophe Rufin argue that the term is inaccurate, dangerous, and used as a rhetorical device to isolate Israel. They also call it antisemitic, and potentially a means to justify acts of terrorism.
Ian Buruma, Professor of Democracy, Human Rights and Journalism at Bard College, New York, finds the comparison to be "intellectually lazy, morally questionable, and possibly even mendacious." Though he disagrees with Israel's policies in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in his view:
"Inside the state of Israel, there is no apartheid. I n proportion to its population, Israel has the largest minority within its borders of any country in the Middle East. The official figure for Copts in Egypt is 10%. Non-Jews, mostly Arab Muslims, make up 20% of the Israeli population, and they enjoy full citizen's rights. Israel is one of the few Middle Eastern states where Muslim women are allowed to vote."
In short, there is no basis for referring to Israel as practicing apartheid.

Nope.
Zionism allows for the concept of Israeli Arabs with full citizenship and full representation in government and has been since the inception of Israel. Aparthied never allowed for that.
- The wall and fences is a recent installation used to reduce suicide bombing. Even if you think it is not effectvie or a good idea, that IS the REASON WHY. Claiming otherwise is just simple lying.
- And it is not true that Israel has limited international diplomatic relations with the rest of the world. And what does that have to do with Apartheid?
- And what other racist societies are you referring to?

There are certainly similarities between Zionism and Apartheid as you have rightly pointed out. Namely, both the Zionist ideology and the Aparthied ideology support racial segragation. The reason for this is obvious. In both cases racism was the great motivator.
I must commend you for bringing up such a question.

IN South Africa the Blacks the position kept down rather a lot to the point of slavery. In Israel the non Jews = ARABS actually have seats contained in the Knesset and ARE area of the authorities. ALL peoples in Israel have equivalent chance to education and hospitals. Gangsters do certainly usually get medals for his or her slaughters.

I might if Arabs weren't allowed in the knesset, or to vote, if arab israelis and jewish israelis were compelled to go to separate restaurants, cinemas, bars, etc. and if they were forbidden to marry. You are probably too young to remember what apartheid was, but it was much worse than what arabs are dealing with in Israel. But trying to use the struggle of the black south africans for the cause du-jour does make for good soundbites.

The charge would be laughable if it weren't so serious.
There is no comparison. Arabs in Isreal have equal rights and are represented in the parliament (Knesset).
They have free schooling and are free to move around the country.
