It's up to him. I think it is good that it got people talking about the issue. And it's not like he's damanged his name because how many people have even heard of him before this?
When I first heard John Amaechi came out of the closet I thought they were talking about the old actor who was in Cocoon.

After seeing his interview on Best Damned Sports Show a few weeks back, I can understand why he didn't. Not only that, but the reaction of what's his name after Amaechi came out - if that guy's voicing it, how many others are feeling it?

Why are you against him? guy isn't a perv or rapist, purely his sexual orientation isn't comparable to you. he's attempting to show a factor that gay athletes have massive problems and that they can't come out of the closet until whilst they retire. the guy is cultured and knowledgeable, greater useful than a million/2 the shits enjoying interior the NBA suited now, who in all probability won't have the ability to even examine a toddler's e book. So who's worse for the NBA? Tim Hardaway merits to get his *** flamed for his stupid statements.

It doesnt bother me that he did but whats the big deal. He is announcing he is gay so what what if Scott Pollard came out and said im an atheist (I dont know just example) or when PG mark Jackson changed is name and became muslim it wasnt this kind of press. My point is someone being gay is not new I feel he is using this just 2 earn some bucks. SO what he is gay I walk pass homosexuals everyday and work with them as well . Its not the first person to annouce he was game to his work place!

Why not? That's who he is and it's going to help others out as well. Plus, why does it matter.....it's 2007! Gays shouldn't have to come out of the closet.....people should get their closed minds out of the closet!

Why is this a baseball question? Any "gay" person should come out at some point but whether or not it should be so public is another question in itself...

I don't care about it one way or the other. It's his life and his decision.
