4. Would you be willing to spend slightly more for a hand made candle with superior scent and burn time?

5. When you buy candles, is it a planned or impulse purchase?

6. Why do you burn candles?

7. Do you live in an area with a high population, or a low population?

8. (optional) What is your estimated gross income?

1. Where do you most often purchase candles?

GOLD CANYON CANDLES

2. What most influences your candle purchase: scent, brand, burn time, color, price, or trend?

IT USED TO BE JUST SCENT BUT AFTER HAVING CERTAIN ISSUES WITH CANDLES AND FINDING DIFFERENT CANDLE COMPANIES THAT ADDRESSED THOSE ISSUES, I AM VERY PICKY AND HAVE TO SAY ALL OF THE ABOVE- THE MAIN REASON I BUY GOLD CANYON- MINUS TREND- I DONT CARE ABOUT THAT, I LIKE WHAT I LIKE

3. What type of scent do you buy most: fruit, floral, natural/"outdoorsy", or edible (eg.:hot baked apple pie)?

FRUIT AND FOOD SCENTS- THEN SPICE AND (DONT KNOW WHAT CATERGORY) BUT SCENTS LIKE PATCHOULI AND SANDLEWOOD

4. Would you be willing to spend slightly more for a hand made candle with superior scent and burn time?

MAYBE- GOLD CANYON HAS THE LONGEST BURN TIME ON THE MARKET, A SUPERIOR SCENT AND THE COST IS PRETTY REASONABLE- ON TOP OF THAT IT IS CLEAN AND EVEN BURNING- NO WASTED WAX- IT WOULD HAVE TO REALLY BEAT GC BY A LOT SINCE I LIKE THEM SO MUCH I DECIDED TO SELL THEM

5. When you buy candles, is it a planned or impulse purchase?

BOTH, I MAKE SURE I ALWAYS HAVE CANDLES TO BURN, FOR CERTAIN SEASONS I WILL PLAN TO PURCHASE CERTAIN SCENTS- IF I COME ACROSS AN UNEXPECTED SCENT I WILL MAKE AN IMPULSE BUY

6. Why do you burn candles?

CALMING AND RELAXING, THEY CAN ALSO BE INVIGORATING, BRINGS UP PLEASANT MEMORIES, MAKES MY HOME WARM AND INVITING

7. Do you live in an area with a high population, or a low population?

HIGH

8. (optional) What is your estimated gross income?

A LITTLE ABOVE 40,000 YR

9. (optional) What is your age?

34

1. At the grocery store or in a specialty shop when i smell them.
2. price, scent.
3. edible - cinnamon, caramel, etc
4. maybe, but not more than $10 for a short pillar. good cheap candles are pretty easy to find.
5. usually planned. i like to have them around the house.
6. to make a room smell nice. to add ambience

I'll tell u where I get mine: DeeJay Candles out of Fort Worth, Tx. Votives r only a $1. (1 free with a doz. purchase) and they REALLY smell b4 u burn them, while they r lit and afterwards. One in a room keeps everything fresh smelling and no need for chemical sprays. I buy "Linen". The candles r made on the premise.

From a marketing point of view and that degree I have... people are not usually brand loyal... Picking the very best price. Walmart can testify to that.

Secondly, It is hard and overwhelming to compete with big business on the discount they can get with buying in mass bulk.

However, I think candles should be cool novelty items. For the most part I use them for the scent and perhaps romantic. So there you go. Something that does both.

ok, the candle part I get, smell, cost, if they really can smell up the room....but the income and population part, I don't understand why you need to know that.....
