Laroche will have a good season, and the Pirates will be better that most think. That probably doesnt mean playoffs, but I can assure you they wont be the worst team in the league. What people fail to realize is that yes, the Pirates have been bad for a long time now, but they had the 2nd best record in the NL during the second half of last season. They kept their core group together and have guys that are capable of hitting .280 or better throughout the entire lineup. The Pirates success depends on production from the leadoff spot, which coincided with their winning last year, the young pitching to stay on the right track, and for the bullpen to continue as one of the better ones in the league. The Pirates didnt spend a lot of money on over the hill players or fill ins until the trade deadline this year. Last year they started 30-60, and could never overcome that. I see the Pirates floating around .500 for a better part of the year and building up some excitement for '08.

To answer your question, LaRoche should have plenty of opportunities with Sanchez in front of him and Bay following, as that seem to be the route the Pirates are taking. Freddy led the league in doubles last season, so if he continues that, it'll give LaRoche a chance to drive in a good number of runs. Bay has proven to be a solid hitter, so it would be tough to pitch around LaRoche. I think if he stays healthy he could hit about 35 HR and drive in 95-110 runs. Hopefully that will come true!

No, no longer this 365 days. they have some stable youthful commencing pitchers, yet interior the the remainder of the rotation and interior the bullpen, they're a multitude. they only traded away their closer, and that i do no longer think of everyone seems to have the capacity to step up and take his place. i think of that that commerce replaced into undesirable for the two communities. The Pirates gave away an incredible youthful closer for a everyday baseman and the Braves have been given a set-up guy. The Braves now have not have been given any first or 2d baseman, so their protection is going to get harm because of the fact they're gong to have 2 green gamers on the sphere. The offense is harm because of the fact they lost LaRoche, who replaced right into a significant staple interior the offense. regular nevertheless, i think of that gained Pittsburgh out.

He is a very good player but I don't think he can carry a team. He won't hit 30 HR's but may raise his batting average and drive in 100 RBi's for the first time.
For every step forward they seem to take one backwards and for the 4 or 5 games LaRoche may help them win they may have given up by trading Gonzalez for him.

If he's asked to provide the power between Sanchez and Bay then I think he'll do well, possibly 30 homers and high 90s in RBIs. If he's asked to protect Bay with no one behind him then I think he'll have so-so numbers...20+ homers and under 90 RBIs.

i presict he wil do very well on a lousy club! he will have good numbers, and might even make all-star team. playiong in pittsburgh, though, is not something i would want! it will be years before they have a good team. the market is small, and top name free agents do not want to go there!

He will do well. He is a class act and is an excellent baseball player. I think the Braves were nuts to trade him.

Chow!!
