Eccentric is just when somebody is different from everybody else. Crazy refers to somebody with a mental disorder.
That's how I see the difference, but "normal" and "crazy" are relative. Each person defines these words differently!!!

Eccentric is being strange by the standards of the majority. Nothing is wrong with them, it's just a style that's not accepted by most.

Being crazy means there's something wrong.

Eccentric COULD be called "good crazy" like bungee jumping in a chicken suite, and insane would be "bad crazy" like forcing someone else to do it for fun.

Yes. Being eccentric only means that you have odd behavior or quirks that are not easy understood by others. Crazy, on the other hand, leaves reality and reason far behind and never lets them catch up. Crazy is mentally ill and beyond the boundaries of
reality and reason. Eccentric is odd and crazy is insane but both words are too easily bantered around. Good Luck!! @8-)

Eccentricity refers to unusual or odd behavior. Crazy is a mentally deranged person.
I guess some really eccentric behavior could certainly seem crazy!

Well eccentric people are sane people, they just may come across crazy because they are very different and odd. I am not saying all accentric people are sane but they are not all crazy either. I met some eccentric people and they are very nice, so it is not nice to sterotype. Crazy people are crazy they will kill you or whatever....

My mother was a psychologist. She told me that acting odd isn't what makes someone crazy (that would be eccentric). She said if a person gets up every morning, shows up at work, earns a paycheck, pays his bills, takes care of himself, and doesn't pose a threat to others he's not crazy.

Violence towards yourself or others is crazy.
Not being ABLE to take care of yourself might be crazy or might be a disability - you need to do testing to check.
Not WANTING to care of yourself is crazy.

EVERYTHING ELSE is just a matter of taste.

I think that they're both very similar. People often use the terms interchangeably.

However, being eccentric doesn't necessarily mean being crazy. It could mean being weird, or showing excessively bizarre behavior.

the distinction between eccentric and loopy, in a individual or a situation, is the degree of fulfillment. a individual with unusual antics that artwork for them is seen to be eccentric, on a similar time as though those self same antics do no longer artwork the guy could be seen loopy.

An ecentric man may be crazy but a crazy man cannot be an eccentric.

Eccentric is some who is odd or whose behaviors (some of them anyway) are not typical.

Crazy is someone who is mentally deranged or insane (mentally ill).

Neither has anything to do with one's financial status.
