no,i am not satisfied bcoz budget lacks reality, its full of hope for the future and gimmicks to capture uttar pradesh state in the forth coming elections,in addition to that f.m gave many relaxations to cooperate firms/companies,he does not put forward any thing curb the raising prices of essential commodities, middle class people of India is going to suffer more due to this chidabarams 2007 budget,it is hampering India's growth in many ways.

I partially agree with Ganesh that the UP election fever had affected the FM from preparing a good budget.. But the criticism that he had not done anything to bring down prices etc are just theoretical. No govt action would ever bring down the prices in general in our country..

The only tool with the govt to protect the interest of the poor is the PDS supply of food grains.. Other goods will sell as usual according to convenience of traders to make the best of the worse situation..

Reduction of taxes or reducing the diesel price etc would not have any impact.. It is known fact.. but people in the opposition camp would criticize as though the govt could have intervened..! Wasteful expenses of the govt will never be given up.. So also with the elite citizens who earn hefty salaries and squander on unproductive luxury and extravagant entertainments..

Again I would suggest you to go through the editorial of Tuglak (Tamil weekly) for the views of Cho Mr.Ramasamy who clearly states that it is a political budget to satisfy the party men working for the UP polls and the images of FM or PM (reform angels) are missing in it..

The farmers woes would not be sincerely addressed by any politician of this day.. Just making a heavy allocation for farm credit or waiving interest on outstanding loans etc are not going to help the poor farmers..

The prices of agrl goods at farm gate are very unremunerative while the market price of the same is multifold.. thus the agents who procure and traders who sell slice off heavy amount from the consumers and share very little with the primary producer.. All fancy schemes like Regulated Markets etc have not been successful in a big way (except in few places) and the riches produced from nature by the poor are enjoyed by the rich elites...

The poor weavers, fishermen, mechanics and vendors on the road sides, not to mention the daily wage earners (coolies) are all in perpetual poverty... Abundant money flow is there for gainful investments to employ the youth in a big way and produce goods of value - both for domestic consumption and exports - besides helping the unemployed poeple to benefit..

But the rich politicians, traders and others would rather invest in star hotels / hospitals, wine shops, cine films or in self financing educational institutions that would mint money many fold...

So the "jobless growth" had perpetuated the poverty on the one hand while helping the rich to get richer... These problems have socio political origin and could not be addressed by the politicians themselves.. unless a dynamic leader emerges to take the helm and save the poor..!
