1. I'm black so I must love fried chicken and watermelon.
2. I am on welfare.
3. I must have been a wedlock baby.
4. I am ignorant and loud.
5. I must be stupid. You would be amazed at the number of people that tell me that I am so well-spoken and act surprised that I am very bright let alone the fact that I can put sentences together.
6. I am promiscuous or have had a promiscuous past.

Stereotypes are born purely from ignorance. I commend for your achievements at Berkeley and I salute your father for being a true role model. Anyone who believes that Black Americans hold an exclusive on drug trading is a fool. The stereotype I would most like to disspell is that which suggests all white people are racists/rednecks. Many of us have evolved wayyyyyyyy up the chain and truly embrace the beauty of all cultures. On a lighter note, I hate the notion that "white boys can't jump" and that white people can't dance.

I hate the fact that people assume that white estadounidenses are rich, materialistic, and shallow. I grew up poor, I'm poorer now, and I'll probably die poor. Things don't matter to me, they never have. I grew up in an emotionally abusive home with lots of toys. I've never wanted stuff, I've never wanted money; all I've ever wanted is love. And I am not shallow. I'm porbably one of the least shallow people you'll ever meet. I don't see people are beautiful as ugly; they're just people. I feel no attraction for them, one way or another based on their looks. Everybody is the same until I get to know them.
There are other stereotypes I could get into about being estadounidense or blonde, but I have to go to class. Thanks for bringing this up.
(By the way, estadounidense is United States-ian. There's no real way to say it in English, but America is two continents. It just doesn't make sense to me when estadounidenses call themselves American. Of course you're American. But then again, so are people in Argentina, or Guatemala. It's time to correct what we say.)

probably that black people cannot be educated or speak correct english. And that all black people can dance, sing, or listen to rap and r&b music.
By the way, while your number 3(all blk men are dead beat dads) isn't true for your case(which I applaud your parents, that's wonderful and I wish them well), the truth is that the majority of today's black children are being raised in single parent(mother) homes. So while SOME black men are taking care of their children, the statistic shows that MOST aren't. This is a sad fact, and I wish all of us in the black community could work together and change it.

I'm Chechen (and Catholic) and a common stereotypes about us are:
-we are all Wahabi Muslims
-we support terrorism and hate non-Muslims
-that people a majority of the people in my ancestor's country are Muslims, I should be a doctor or something, because all people from Muslims countries have to become doctors
The truth
-yes, there are Wahabi's, but most Chechen Muslims are Sufi's, and there are also Jews and Chistians in Chechnya
-Chechnya is fighting for independence, not to kill the "kuffar." Non-Muslims fight along the Mujahideen in the cause.
-Chechens are not Middle Easterners; a lot of Chechen people like jobs in music, bricklaying, teaching, etc.

That I come from a broken, one parent home. Both my parents have been married for 28 years. They have four children from their marriage and no other children from outside the family. My mother is not a loud obnoxious black woman and is quite intelligent. My father has never cheated or mistreated his woman or any of his children. You wouldn't believe how many white people give me the I don't believe you look when I tell them that.

there are plenty but i think the one that upsets me is that all white people from the south are racist, stupid, rednecks.
i know there are a few people that seem to go out of their way to live up to all the bad stereotypes and these are always the ones the news reporters seem to locate during a live shot lol it always seems to be the one on the news talking about the tornado that hit the trailer park and they make us all look bad lol

I hate the stereotypes:
1) that all black women are loud-Opinionated, yes. Loud, no.
2) that black people all are on welfare-Never have been on government assistance, nor have my friends or family.
3) that black people blame the white man for all their problems-some do, but most don't.
