The ACT is quite different from the SAT, in scoring as well as the time factor. While the SAT takes 1/4 of a point away for every incorrect answer, the ACT does not, making it seem that for all intensive purposes, the ACT should be easier. However, the ACT gives you less time than SATs, so you have to guess more, which is probably why there is no 1/4 deduction. If writing isn't your thing, the ACT is better because of the newly added SAT essay component. Both are hard, but if well prepared to the different testing styles, they're do-able.

I took the ACT about 4 years ago. I got a 27 on it the first time and a 25 the second time. I didn't think it was all that hard. I took a couple of prep classes at my school to help get used to the format of the test and the timing allowed. The trick is to not panic. Just tell yourself it's just a test. That's what I thought when I took it. And tell yourself that you can take it again. If you are extremely nervous about it, chances are you'll have a harder time concentrating on it and not do so well. Just keep your mind focused on the questions. Eat breakfast before you take the test so you don't get hungry and let that interupt you. Get plenty of sleep the night before and try to stay in a good mood. That should help. I know people that didn't do so well on it, but their in college and getting degrees while I've been stuck working in an office for 3 years. As much as it matters in highschool, it means nothing once you are in the real world. Just take it easy and do your best. Good Luck and just relax.

When I took the ACT almost 6-7 years ago I got a 25. I finished with plenty of time to spare on most parts. But, for some people big tests are really nerve wracking. I took a College PREP course the summer before my senior year and that helped me out a lot. We took practice ACTs and went over different problems. Good Luck!

I got a 26. It didn't seem too terribly hard to me. I'm horrible at Math, so that's what really brought me down. Plus, I do really well at standardized tests. (When I took it, the national average was either 18 or 19) The best thing to do is to study study study for it. It may seem lame to study for a test like that, especially because hs doesn't really require much studying, but you'll have to study like a maniac in college, so you might as well get used to it.
There are also plenty of ACT study manuals out there to help you. I recommend that you get one b/c they help ALOT.
Good luck
