It's a nice safe, economic place to raise a family but if you're under 30 you might find it a bit boring.

There's a four-year university named Southeast Missouri State University. It's a good school for business and education, but most people don't stay after graduating.

There's a church and a bank on every corner. A LOT of banks have sprouted up recently. It makes me think that there is probably alot of money in the area. Which means it might be a good place to start a new business.

It's probably doubled in size in the last ten years. People have said for years that Cape and Jackson (about 10 miles away) will one day merge.

It's 2 hours from St. Louis and 4 hours from Memphis. So you can get away fairly easily if you feel a need. Shopping in this area leaves much to be desired, so you probably will occasionally feel the need, for that reason if none other.

You might want to start looking for a home in Jackson, Mo. There's more choices and newer homes at decent prices.

My older sister does....

It isn't a *bad* place to live for a smallish town, but you have to understand, it is a small town. You have to drive a ways to get to a bus station (like my older sister and her hubby had to, to pick me up last time I visited them). And yes, there are some nice things nearby, like a community college, a first-rate hospital, a fairly decent mall....but you really do need a reliable car to get to most of this stuff.

Oh, and the town is *right on* the Mississippi river. Meaning it doesn't matter what the season is, the weather is going to be humid.

Also of note....there are a significant number of poorer people in town, but they do okay, if my older sister and her friends are any indication. And, the population is more diverse than it seems, just from any reputation you might have heard about it being "Rush Limbaugh's hometown". There are plenty of different people of different ethnicities and political persuasions too.

In short, if you *have to* live in Missouri, Cape Girardeau isn't a bad place to live as far as small towns go. ^_^ There isn't a lot to do but then again, that is just a small town for you.

I hope this helps, and thanks for your time! ^_^
