Everyone raves about Datsyuk until the playoffs when he is invisible. 3 goals in 46 playoff games Hasek will probably not last Zetterburg is great but a back injury is not good We just dont have the toughness in my opinion. I hope Im wrong!

Hopefully Bertuzzi and Calder will step up

Your best bet is to pray that the Red Wings don't win the President's Trophy. It seems that every year they finish in first place, they get eliminated in the first or second round. The Wings have been sent home early by the Avs, Stars, and the Oilers in recent years. All bets are off when these teams play.

Who really knows, but I wouldnt count them out based soley on the past. Yeah, Datsyuk hasnt been that good in the playoffs so far, but can that really last forever? Datsyuk is way too skilled to have an entire career of playoff failures. Calder is averaging a point a game since joining the team, Bertuzzi will fill a roll thats been empty for us for a long time, and we have a goalie who is capable of stealing us a few games when we need him to. Just having Bertuzzi on the roster is going to force teams to have their bigger d-men guard the second line, leaving more room for our 1st liners to do their magic. Im not saying that the cup is definately coming to Detroit, but they have as good as a chance as anyone else.

Well, depending on where they are in the final standings. If the playoffs ended today, the Wings would be playing the Sharks. Even tho this 1st round matchup would entitle the Wings to home ice, I still feel that SJ would be too much for the Wings to handle. The Sharks are bigger, deeper, and younger and Hasek is listed as day to day right now so that is reason for concern. Hasek will need to play his best and Bert and Calder need to show up on the ice and not just on paper.

The Wings do have one thing that they didn't have in the past few years. This time they finally got what they needed and added Toughness. Calder and Bertuzzi will add the grit that the wings have been missing. Also, combined with the Griffins line and skill players like Lang they have created legitimate 2nd and 3rd string scoring lines. The wings don't have to depend on Datsyuk anymore.

You can never count out the Redwings, unfortunately. They look great for a team thats transitioning from lots of vets to more kids as the vets retire. Bertuzzi is not toughness. He is regular season goon that gets you into penalty trouble in the playoffs. And dont tell me what a great player he is because he's not. Great players step-up and lead through the playoffs which he has never done. If Holmstrom, Lang, or Schneider can help Lindstrom kick the team in the *** then they have a shot against everyone in the west.

-GO SHARKS!!!!

I think the reason why the Wings always go out early in the playoffs is because they always lock in the #1 position in the west which gives them a false sense of security. They take on #8 seed teams like they are noting and end up paying the price. I hope that the Wings finish 4th so this won't happen.

Unless Bertuzzi provides the desperately needed grit, that he was brought to Detroit to do, then the answer to the question of will the Red Wings reserve an early tee-time will be yes!

Man o man, the wings are my boys but I'm lacking that gut feeling. If Hasek wasn't such a cry baby we'd be better for it. I'm all about Todd, but he's no good when he doesn't play. We have some overrated names too, and for some reason that keeps people in denial. I'm going to have to hand it to the Preds over the Sabres this year. I still love my Wings, but pretending will only get you so far.

I think you will be proven right. The key will be in goal-tending and the blue line for the Wings. Hasek has proven many times in his career (as he ages especially) that he does not want the pressure of standing on his head... if the Wings don't toughen up in the defense then watch for Hasek to have an undisclosed injury.
