I'm no big Al Sharpton fan, but I don't think he's overreacting. It's one thing to abstractly know that your ancestors were slaves. It's another to actually put a name and face on the owners.

I cannot speak for him but any black American who is surprised that their ancestors were slaves is surprising in itself. I actually kind of like Sharpton because he seems much more sincere than most other black leaders- I am thinking Jessie Jackson.

ya think?? i understand that black people suffered in the PAST with slavery...but that doesn't affect current black people THEY were not slaves, their ancestors were. so what difference does it make if he is decendant of slaves? HE'S NOT ONE!
