Why do you think of Marvel killing off Captain America?

2007-03-07 04:34:20 · 10 answers · asked by Anonymous in Entertainment & Music Comics & Animation

I dno't keep up on comics but I know that the Caotain is an icon. I'm intrigued by the possiblity that only rogers die and not C.A.

If it's true that only rogers is being replaced, who should replace him?

I don't agree. Cap is an icon. They tried to replace him once before, and couldn't. Anyone remember John Walker's run as Captain America? Is the USAgent still a viable character. The ideas represented by this hero may be outdated but Marvel impressed me during the anti-drug crusade when Steve Rogers opted to purge his body of the super soldier serum. I, at the time, would have never made the connection. Marvel saw an opportunity, and took it, they do have good ideas on occasion. I would hope this story is just to bring out the assassin, not kill off the career of the leader of Earth's greatest heroes. Time will tell.

It’s a stupid idea. The thing is, they’ve tried this before! In the 80’s, a generation ago.

They took the Captain America uniform and title away from Steve Rogers and gave them to the Super Patriot. He didn’t turn out so well, and they eventually gave them back to the guy who was once skinny and weak but wanted to serve his country any way he could. They gave it back to they guy that volunteered for a dangerous medical experiment that might help other Americans, without endangering someone useful. They gave it back to the guy who repaid America’s trust in him with love and devotion and protection from her enemies.

Now, we have been engaged in a great Civil War, testing whether any comic book company that wanted to dissolve the ties which bound it to a great patriotic symbol could long survive. They think they will come ou tof this on top. Who knows? Perhaps Marvel wants to sell comics to our nation’s enemies overseas, and they are saying, “See! We don’t really love freedom, truth and justice! We love money! Give us money, and you can have our country!”

They will get what such things deserve. It’s hard to believe this was not done deliberately. They have let us down, they have let all Americans down. Should he become Captain Muslim, who would then fight to establish sharia law in America? God forbid. Should he become Captain Vigilante, who shoots criminals with no trial, as Cap was shot down? Is this the kind of America we want to leave to our kids and grandkids…?

they killed steve rogers not captain america.

I think the point of that is to show the changing face of america.

I think clues to the new captain america were in the civil war.

I think it will be frank castle. He picked up his mask at the end, the whole new vs. old face of america and the american.

They are showing that rogers' and his view of america is outdated as the country has changed. the last frontline illustrated how out of touch with america, modern america that steve rogers really is.

I think they are replacing him for this reason.

Personally i would like to see the punisher as the new captain america.

EDIT: no randy coutoure the REAL captain america is not dead.

I think they're killing off Steve Rogers - not necessarily Captain America..

The Captain's a symbol and a costume that could be donned by anyone!

He have been given shot, each and every physique theory he replaced into ineffective, yet provided that comedian e book characters by no potential stay ineffective he replaced into at last delivered back. As of outstanding now he continues to be alive. And as for the flicks the Civil conflict storyline is an prolonged time earlier than the place the flicks are outstanding now.

I think marvel really has it out for Cap'. I mean he was kinda disgraced when he lost the civil war. I dont know, i never really liked him or his comics, so i cant say i am too mad.

It was gonna happen since he lost the civil war and there would be a new day and a new America so they would need a new hero.

That´s stupid. Kill a superhero comic. But maybe it has to be with money. They need to get more profits and this is a great opportunity to increase their sales.
