I know it is, but I want to know the opinion of men. I know women think otherwise.

But men have it deep ingrained in them that to blunt one's emotions and not to talk about your pain and hurt is what being a man is all about.

At the same time to talk about your inner wounds to show emotional sensitivity is 'not' to be a man?

what do you say?

Men are allowed to show emotions in only three spheres: anger, humour and sex.

In the west you can show your emotions towards women, but in India that would be considered wimpy.

Also, it seems that men feel that it's o.k. if you can show emotions indirectly ------ but to talk about them is not done.

My Daughter married a man who said he never cried. I told her I thought he was not a good candidate. I was right.
A Man is a Man when he can show his feelings and vulnerability. Why? Because he is strong enough to know he has flaws as we all do . He has empathy as we all do. He realizes that at the time losses diminish him at the time. Then as a man he moves forward and grows from the feelings he experienced and displayed.

What do I say?..... I say that "Manhood" is about being responsible, being well disciplined. In general I think all people should be able to control their emotions. Me personally, If I am in a situation that is very emotional...And feel the need to cry, I will. A real man is able to convey his emotions. There is nothing wrong with being sensitive. It is possible to be a sensitive man without losing your "manliness" I feel that it is very important to be able to show people how you feel. I can see no purpose in carrying a lot of unnecessary baggage. Say whats on your mind....Don't be afraid to let the world know how you feel.

Being a real man is having integrity and standing up for principles|

That is expressed in defending the defenseless and helping the needy - insofar as it is within one's power|

Now men are only finite and have vulnerabilities and can be hurt| Often, there is only so much within their power to help a situation|

In certain cases, in cases of psychological trauma, it would be needed to open up to a trusted friend or counselor| Sometimes that is required for healing|

What you say is basically true, but i believe things are changing and more and more men are able to FEEL emotions and talk about them more. It is better physically and emotionally for their health if man can do so. And i need to say there are alot of us women who feel that we also have to put on a front for certain occasions and feel emotionless in some situations. Heres luck to you. bettyk

No you can still be masculine and show your emotions sometimes. That's called being a human being. Woman like it when men are able to open up and express their inner thoughts and feelings towards them.

i always thought it was a part of been male. But last weekend i cracked and revealed some very personal information to a "good friend". It did not help. So maybe this is why men learn not to talk.

You have a point. A lot of people think its unmanly to show a senstive side and if you do you run the risk of having people wonder if your gay. I feel bad for you guys. You can't win no matter what you do.

It's not a man and woman thing. *People* who have no emotions cannot be trusted.

I'm a woman and hope you don't mind me expressing my thoughts and experience with people on this issue.

No emotion = no sanity

if you bottle it all up it will come out usually in a violent from later or a stroke in mid life.

Not for me, it isn't.

I actually find men's actions humorous; the way they're almost attempting to convince THEMSELVES that they're macho, as opposed to effeminate.
