It's crazy when they can't even understand what you are saying or understand the road signs, and yet WE are supposed to adapt to accomodate them. If they want to work in England they can learn to speak English.

I agree with you. British people applying for a driving licence have to take a written exam. Once again we are expected to bend over backwards to accomodate others.

Are you suggesting that English lorry drivers can speak all EU languages when they deliver loads throughout Europe?
Or does this 'rule' of yours just apply to 'foreign' workers in England?

Any one who can't read or speak the native tongue shouldn't be driving on our roads - there are enough accidents already.

When I passed my driving test it was a requirement that you could read and write.

I didn't know our standards had dropped so low.

will that mean that our licence will be useless in foreign country's, shall we tell all our long distance lorry drivers that they can not leave the u k,you should think about it before you change the law.

Yeah, I know what you mean. You Brits come to the States and act like you own the place. I know you guys can read English but when are you going to learn to speak it? We go out of our way to learn terms like lorry, boot, windscreen, bonnet etc. What right do you have to travel abroad?

The road signs are the same all over europe, they too can use satnav in their own language. this makes driving easier all over europe.

most british drivers can bearly speak english, and most of them ignore road signs and speed restrictions as well, so the foriegn drivers should fit right in.
