f(x) = 3 - 5x

a) f(-1)

for f(-1) replace x by -1

f(x)=3-5x

f(-1) = 3 - 5 (-1)
f(-1) = 3 + 5 (as "-" multiplied by "-" is " + ")
f(-1) = 8

b) f(1)

for f(1) replace x by 1

f(x)=3-5x

f(1) = 3 - 5 (1)
f(1) = 3 - 5 (as "+" multiplied by "-" is " - ")
f(1) = -2

c) f(2)

for f(2) replace x by 2

f(x)=3-5x

f(2) = 3 - 5 (2)
f(2) = 3 - 10 (as "+" multiplied by "-" is " - ")
f(2) = -7
