I know it is, but I want to know the opinion of men. I know women think otherwise.

But men have it deep ingrained in them that to blunt one's emotions and not to talk about your pain and hurt is what being a man is all about.

At the same time to talk about your inner wounds to show emotional sensitivity is 'not' to be a man?

what do you say?

listen these are not my opinions. I'm talking about social notions of manhood. All men are governed by those.

It looks very bookish and idealistic to say otherwise, but let's talk about social reality.

I say you are damaged, or trying to get attention. A real man doesn't need to control others, or hide his pain. A REAL man can convey how he feels without shame or hesitation and treats others with respect and compassion. A real jerk acts like you describe...

If.....Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too.
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, or talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build' em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--not lose the common touch,
If neither foes not loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
It you can fill the unforgiving munute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Personaly I think that talking about one's pains and showing one's emotions isn't oposing any man to be a Man!!

But I must admit, I feel vulnerable when I show my emotions and I don't like talking about my pains.

If that could help

Manhood is about being ABLE to SHOW your emotions and pain not hiding them. Real men show their emotions and pain.

it is not so.some people can control and some cannot.the degree varies from person to person.it is not a matter when one shows it or not but the real manliness lies in coping with it.If you cant then best thing is to vent it out to be healthy.all human beings have natural reactions and so it is not to be hidden if it is not comfortable to you
