I'm writing a story on a musician that I knew in school, and I want to put the story out to as many papers as possible. However, it has little to no area relevance.

Anybody have any ideas on how I can sell it?

It has huge area relevance - it has your interest, and you are presumably from this area. Write your voice up as much as possible and describe it as your experience of art rather than a potted biography of an artist, it will come across as much more interesting and easier to sell.

Well, you can search for publishers or literary agents online. Usually they'll look at your work and tell you what you can expect as far as marketing. Good luck!
