I work in daycare and work with toddlers i really enjoy it but i have now been asked by my boss to be a babyroom supervisor, but i really dont like working with little babies i prefere older children.
moving to the baby room means that i will be making more money as i will be a supervisor, whereas in the toddler room i am just an assistant! i dont know what to do? should i stay in the room i like or move to a room and try to adjust to it?

Its not that i dont like babies, i mean i am with them the odd time and i do give them the love and care that they need and i enjoy working with them, its just that i enjoy working with older ones MORE. thats all. Im not a bad person i wouldnt treat them any different to any other child just because i dont enjoy working with them as much!

If you don't like working with babies, I say stay with the toddlers. Hopefully a supervisor position will open up in a toddler room soon. Perhaps you can ask your boss when that might happen.

It wouldn't hurt to give it a try for a couple of days or a week. Some people find working with babies is easier, they just need to be cared for and they're either hungry or wet, or uncomfortable. If you want to excell, try it our but make sure you're taking care of them babies good, and not just doing it for the money, but if you are absolutely sure you don't want to be with the babies, then tell your manager!

If you enjoy working with the toddlers more, just let your boss know that you appreciate the offer, but that you are happy where you are. If you don't enjoy your work, you will not be happy with the change. More money isn't always worth it.

the key to being successful is loving what you do regardless of the money you make doing it.
If you love where you are then stay, but maybe you could give the other room a try, you might end up loving it as well.

if you are happy where you are then stay. tell your boss that you very much appreciate the offer, but you are holding out for a supervisor position in the toddler group. then in a week (after telling them no) give your boss a card saying how much you appreciate her considering you for the supervisor position.

If I were the mother of those babies, I wouldn't want someone in there that "didn't like working with little babies." You would be short changing the kids by doing something you don't like.

If you don't enjoy working with little babies, it's likely to show and babies pick up on feelings, I think it would be unfair to them and your self. Like I said babies pick up on things and you'd likely feel guilty about not not enjoying working with them.
Good Luck .
