Did Einstein or Lavoisier discover the Formula that assumes matter cannot be destroyed or created?

After Einstein Matter and energy are the same as on can be transformed into the other
e=mc^2 If you don´t take in account this equivalence,matter can be destroyed (Nuclear reactions)

i think matter has been created from nothing, can't remember the details but read about it in a science journal. if matter can't be created or destroyed than how did we get here?
