I am a very driven high achiever, but the step part terrifies me.

No sororities require you to step, even those that are part of the NPHC/Divine Nine. Stepping is something that is done by members for fun or to make money for their organizations (those that step in competitions). Your ability to step has no weight in whether you will be accepted as a member.

No, all sororities do not require their members to "step." There many many different types of sororities you can choose from. When I was at the Uni, there were sororities/frats for everything; sports, dance, academic, along with the average ones your thinking of that are just interested in partying.

I myself am not a huge fan of the frat/sorority scene, but there are alot of worhtwhile ones out there...Most campuses have events where you can talk to someone from any of the sororities, or if you're interested in a particular one, just find someone that's in it and ask them what they think. The key is to find a sorority that fits you, not the other way around. If the sorority requires you to change your behavior or personality, or to do something you're not really comfortable with, then you're more than likely never going to enjoy it.

Good luck.
