Hi, I'm thinking of maybe switcing my baby's formula from Similac Advance to Parent's Choice, but am a little hesitant. I've given her the Similac Advance from day 1 and am wondering if the Parent's Choice is as good for her as the Similac. The Parent's Choice costs alot less, it's only $11 a can for the powdered as opposed to the $20 a can for the Similac. The savings would help so much, but not if I would be depriving my daughter of any vitamins or nutrients essential to my daughter's health. I've compared labels of both cans and the Parent's Choice with Lipids and Iron is very similar to the Similac Advance with Iron. Would like to get some opinions from any of you moms who have given your babies the Paent's Choice brand. Did your babies take to it right away or have any problems with it at all? O and please don't say get WIC, I already tried that, but didn't qualify, thanks.

Parents choice formula is just as good as similac, ask your doctor, he will confirm, in fact it was easier on my babies tummy than similac. My daughter was a preemie and everything upset her tummy except the parents choice formula. Don't worry about what other people think, just because it costs more doesn't make it better. Treasure your baby, and if the PC doesn't work, switch back.

I've used the generic brand Parents Choise and my girls have never had a problem with it, they usually take Enfamil Lipil, I switch back and forth between generic and name brand when my WIC runs out, but honestly the absolute best price that i've found on formula is the Sams club brand Members Mark. Its the same as the Parents Choice but a little cheaper and it is worth the price of a Sams club membership just for the money you save using their formula. It comes in a 3 pound can of powder for just under $20 before tax and the can lasts my twin girls a week and they go through between 12 and 14 5 ounce bottles a day. But they've not had any problems with it at all.

My youngest daughter, now 4, was on P.C. and never had any problems.

In fact, she's as healthy as an ox and very intelligent. The doctors are always surprised by her, how well she speaks and writes and how big she is. She's not fat, she's very, very tall for her age (she's the same size as my 6 almost 7 year old and she just turned 4).

I don't think which you use really makes a difference, both provide the needed nutrients and vitamins. And you're right, P.C. is MUCH cheaper.

I raised my second child on Parent's Choice. It saved me an awful lot of money. We had no problems with it at all. There is very little difference. If your baby is very strong and healthy, then go for it.

Have you looked on eBay? Many mothers sell their unopened cans to recoup some oof the money they spent. I have even bought some off eBay. Just make sure to check the expiration date with the seller before you buy.

Oh, and believe it or not, there are people who will purchase your clean, empty baby food jars. All it takes is a little extra effort on your part. In one eBay auction, I was able to recoup ALL the money I had spent on the baby food that came out of my jars!

I breastfed for quite awhile but when I dried up, I had to use formula.

I tried every brand out there!! I actually liked Parent's Choice better than any brand. Primarily b/c I though it was the one that had the fewest bubbles after shaking it up. The others bubbled up a lot and gave my boys gas easier. I also found that is dissolved much better than Enfamil and Similac.

Just try it and see if you like it. A "Brand Name" doesn't ensure better quality.

From what I understand the FDA requires all brand to have certain ingredients. I used PC with my second child and it worked just fine. It is a little clumpier and doesn't mix as easily if you are using the powder but other than that its fine!

You only have to buy the formula for a year. Cut back in another area. Your baby's first year of development is not a place to cut corners.
