I am open to any type of book. Some authors I enjoy are James Frey, Sophia Kinsella, Jane Green, Joe Meno, Chuck Palunick. Anything really. Except history and fantasy

Well, a good travel novel that I'm reading right now is Travels with Charlie by John Steinbeck. Essentially a journal of his travels around the United States with his dog in a camper truck, it really provides some insight into what it was like in different parts of the country in the 1960s. It's not a difficult read, and the story is crafted in such a way that you go from one event or observation to the next without feeling jarred out of the story.

Garlic and sapphires by Ruth Reichl.
As the New York Times's restaurant critic for most of the 1990s, Reichl was determined to review the "true" nature of each restaurant she visited, so she often dined incognito--each chapter of her book highlights a new disguise, a different restaurant (including the original reviews from the Times), and a fresh culinary adventure.
The Vivero letter by Desmond Bagley.Jeremy Wheale's well-ordered life is torn apart when his brother is murdered by a mob hit man, whose bait was a family heirloom - a sixteenth-century gold tray. Any Janet Evanovich book is great. A Monk Simming by Malachy McCourt is really good too.

If you like heartwarming, wholesome stories, try "Shadow of the Lion" by Ruthie Jorgensen. You can read excerpts from it on iuniverse.com. Check it out. I know the author, she's a great gal.
