What does it mean for two to care for each other?

I had a guy friend who mislead me with mixed signals and I did the same to him without knowing it. We had a falling out. He said he cares. And, I do, too. What does this mean? Does that mean we have feelings for each other or just friends? Right now we are keeping a lot of distance even maybe never talking again. I think I care more than he does, it is hard to tell with him. He is flirtatious with everybody.

It means he wants to keep the door open for sex with you. He is not in love, but cares enough to have sex with you at his beconed call.
