I think it's a bit funny, to tell you the truth. I'm willing to bet that the NHS is paying for EVERYHING in that sad lady's life - from the bed she's lying on, to the oxygen she's breathing, and I'm willing to bet she has a lot of home help and personnel calling to her to care for her top to toe seven days a week - all provided free gratis by the NHS. I guarantee you she's on the equivalent of a packet of smarties in medications every day, all provided by the NHS, all designed to keep her very much alive. £5000 for every week for 12 weeks in the Priory comes to £60,000 alone - she went down to 28 stone, then ballooned up to 42 stone when back in her own home again.
Give me a break - that kind of bull really annoys me!
She should be sued for saying such outrageous things.
Edit: Also, the NHS aren't refusing the surgery - they're not willing to do it until she loses weight - she's very likely not fit for surgery in her current condition.

And should they stop helping Anorexic and Bulimics?
Comfort eating is a eating disorder and it is about time it is recognised as one
Anorexics and bulimics get all the help and they can also be sectioned for their own safety under the mental health act why not comfort eaters?
And all these people are moaning about the money these people cost the NHS
Well so does Anorexic and Bulimic people they can have the same problems as comfort eaters heart failure liver damage etc they can cost just as much to care for as a morbidly obese person
Lets stop making judgement on obese people and help them like we do Anorexics and bulimics!!
All I can say is god help you people that slag her off!! I hope nothing traumatic like rape or the loss of a loved one happens to you!! As something so traumatic can trigger an eating disorder and you never know the way you deal with it could be by comfort eating! just remember one day that could be you and wouldn't you want the NHS to help you!

Well as far as I can see, she was given a stay at the Priory (that alone is 60 grand people) and offered psychiatric care (which she refused, and yet she still wants to blame mental health, not laziness, for her condition).
It may a fair point that she did this to herself, and why should the resources be wasted on someone not willing to help herself, when plenty of real victims of illness, ie kids with leukemia and such, need those resources too?
BUT that's not even the point.
The point is that surgery on someone of her weight is extremely risky and will probably kill her. Any surgery deemed that risky, for any season, wouldn't be carried out, but if the reason is self inflicted and can be reversed by her, then it makes all the more sense for them not to do it.
Are they supposed to waste their time and money, and have her die anyway, just to appear to be fair? That's ridiculous.
In the mean time, she's on oxygen support. Who do you think is paying for that?
If you ask me, the NHS have done more than enough.

Phut - There is nothing wrong with her except she is a slob
What does she need NHS help for its simple -If she stops shovelling food into her mouth she would lose weight and get better - Why should the NHS (e.g the taxpayer) pay for any treatment for this?
She will not get any pity from anyone - And does not deserve pity - If she ate 3 meals a day like most other people she would be OK
I say the NHS are in the right (for once) - She needs to help herself!!!

She then came out and since has put 14 stone on,so who's fault is that then.

People might say that smokers get treated why shouldn't she? Given that 80% of the cost of a packet of fags goes directly to the govt in taxation, most of which goes on the NHS, I would suggest that after smoking 20 years I have already paid for my hospital bed. Yet we don't even pay VAT on food.......you work it out!

Tough - she let herself get that way and then expects everyone else to pick up the pieces AND the bill - good on the NHS!
If she is that worried about her weight she should stop stuffing her face with crap food and do something about it! This IS NOT a case of glandular problems or illness - this is because she sat and stuffed her face with junk while hubby was at work. The NHS should pack her off home and give the bed to someone that really needs it!

She is fat because she wants to be. It is her choice, but once again we see someone refusing to accept responsibility for her actions. It has to be someone else's fault.
It is her choice, she has made her bed and now she has to lie in it. I see no reason that the tax payer should go on footing the bill for someone who refuses to help themselves.
As an aside, I love food but I care for my health. I watch what I eat, I work out, I keep in good shape. She could have but is too idle to do it and thinks, if there are any problems, someone else can foot the bill. Sorry, but no sympathy from me. She has chosen to get this big, her problem, no one else's.

I saw this women on GMTV this morning, she was with her husband who admits to feeding her on fry ups and he gives her whatever she wants. I'd like to know how much their food bill must be. I've also seen another programme whereby the husband feeds the wife/partner until she's really really fat and photos them. How sick is that! I understand she has a big big problem, but don't make that our problem. Start eating healthy foods. She could eat all day long but on nutritious tasty foods.

Im overweight and even i think she has to deal with this herself. If she cant get out of bed and her husband is a chef there is no excuse, he should be feeding her properly and she should make the effort to get herself moving again and take some responsibility for the size she is
