You could find people like that in any country. Don't judge the whole country by one show's display of the worst they could find.

I really don't appreciate it when news programs have specials just on how stupid people in the United States are. It's not fair to people like me who actually know these things. Tony Blair is the prime minister of the UK. Some countries that start with U are the United States of America, Uganda, and Uruguay. I suppose you could say the United Kingdom as well. Yasser Arafat won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994, I believe. So please don't think Americans are dumb just because you saw a news special about it, because I am pretty sure I saw the same one you did. That showed a very different United States than the one I know and live in.

While there are many dumb Americans, many are quite intelligent. I know that Tony Blair is the P.M. of England and Yasser Arafat was leader of the PLO. While I'm am often ashamed of some of my fellow citizens (putting George Bush in office), the majority of us are well-educated, intelligent people. It's frustrating how we've lost our standing among the global population. But again, please don't generalize.

Some Americans tend to very gullible and apathetic. Many of them would rather be told what's going on in the world, than do their own research. Please don't make an assumption that all Americans are dumb based on what a cnn reporter said. The majority of us are hard working, relatively well educated people.
I'm always impressed with people who have enough intelligence to master another language. Your question was perfectly understandable. I wonder how many of the grammar cops that corrected you, speak more than one language.

It's not that we are dumb, I think it's more like laziness to learn. Anything we need to know, is right at our fingertips. We need to know who the P.M of the UK is, we look it up online. We need a phone number, we dial 411. We need to know what 2+2, we have a calculator. We are hungry, we go to McDonald's. See what I'm saying. Everything is provided for us, and unfortunately, this has made Americans selfish, where the attitude here is "It's all about me, therefore I don't need to know what's going on around me". And some people view this as being dumb.

The reason US citizens don't know much about the rest of the world is that it is not part of our daily life.
The US as a country is bigger than all of Europe put together. It borders only 2 other countries, both of which are also quite big. So, just keeping up with our own country's news is as much work as hard as keeping up with all Europe's news. So, it should not be a surprise that most US people don't know much about other countries.
Of course, we need to become more aware of the rest of the world, because it is affecting us more and more.

i think of it particularly is a present day worldwide style. i think of people are starting to be to be dumber in particular fields like Math, technological awareness and technologies, on a similar time as fields like banking, finance have remained unaffected. I studied pc Engineering in a school in Nigeria for a pair of years till now I got here to visit to a US college, and my own journey (and my grades) coach that the coursework is obviously numerous ranges extra easy over right here interior the U.S. comparable statements could be made whilst comparing coursework in India, China and Japan. on the different hand, there's a persevering with concepts drain from around the globe to the U. S. interior the technological awareness and math fields as hundreds of folk migrate from international locations like China and India to the U. S. to start new lives each and each 365 days, so I dont think of the U. S. will lose its technological area for a pair of many years a minimum of. in certainty, take a walk interior the direction of the college of Engineering homes of maximum faculties interior the U. S. and u will see a dominance of Asian scholars (whilst China gets their act thoroughly mutually, its over=)

Americans are not dumb, they are (as a generalization) ignorant. This isn't their fault - the government, along with the media and schools, make sure of it.
