Ok. I had a colposcopy done last week. I am pregnant so my dr. DID NOT do a biopsy and nothing concerned him in the colposcopy. But after the colposcopy he put some kind of brown stuff on my cervix, he said he had iron in it and did something. I forget. I have HPV that's why I had everything done. But people keep telling me its the yellow stuff they use after a biopsy to stop bleeding. But like I said I did not have a biopsy done. Hope someone can help me

sorry but a colposcopy is NOT a biopsy. a biopsy is when they take a hunk of your cervix. and my dr. did not do that. he put the vinegar in and looked around. I did not have any bleeding,

if you are that concerned why don't you speak to the doctor about what was done to you. if you want a second opinion you should ask a different doctor.

Sometimes even after the colposcopy a pregnant woman may bleed. Usually I bleed, well spot after the check up, they say it's completely normal. You may have bled a bit, I mean we do have extra pressure on the cervix being pregnant, but if it is a concern to you, I would call my doctor to get the full info.

When you are pregnant your cervix is engorged with blood, so if you have a pap or the Dr. messes with it at all it may bleed rather easily. They apply something to the cervix when they are done (I don't remember what it is called) to help stop the bleeding. I'm not sure why you would have this done during a colonoscopy though. If it was yellow it could be iodine which is used topically before an incision is made to disinfect the area.
Why don't you call the Dr. office where you had it done and ask the nurse?

Just messing with the cervix can sometimes cause a bit of bleeding so he was just doing what he always does after a colposcopy by putting that stuff on it. It's procedure to use it. And...you could call his office and have one of the nurses explain it to you.

The brown stuff is called Betadine but that is not what he swabbed onto your cervix. What he used was an acid stain (vinegar). Some strains of HPV are not visable to the naked eye.
Preganancy sometimes causes an outbreak so your doctor is being very thorough.

HPV makes your cervix very fragile and it bleeds really easy EVEN if you don't have a biopsy.
I used to bleed like a stuck pig with nothing but a paps smear.
So chances are you bled a little and use the coagulant just to stop the bleeding.
Maybe you didn't bleed ...because he used the coagulant. (??)

sorry you didn't get an answer, but I have not heard of anyone having this done during pregnancy, They usually put off procedures like this unless it is a life threatening decision for you or the baby. I think you need to ask the doctor this question and have him explain exactly what he did and used. don't be afraid to call and ask.

you remember the vinegar solution they sprayed in ya to see possible infected cells? the iodine, (I think thats what they use) helps deactivate the vinegar. You obviously would know if they did a biopsy. those things hurt. but, yeah I remember they did the yellow stuff to me too and thats what they said to me.

Maybe you should have asked your doctor what he put on you and WHY.
He really had NO RIGHT whatsoever putting anything on your cervix! (because you are pregnant!)
Did he think you somehow needed brown "iron" stuff inside your vagina? That's gross, and if he tries to do that again, maybe you should stop him!
Next time you NEED to ASK QUESTIONS, hunny! Get all the facts! Get all the answers that you DESERVE!
A doctor should NEVER do anything to you without telling you what he's doing and why he's doing it!!
Cheers
